Will Artificial Intelligence Destroy Us?

Advancements in the field of artificial intelligence are exciting, and they could make the world a better place. However, not everyone agrees with that.

Is Artificial Intelligence Possible

For all the possible benefits of artificial intelligence in helping older adults stay on top of their health needs and social activities, Adler is wary of machines taking too much control. True artificial intelligence is only possible if naturalism is true and people aren’t God’s image. The deep learning techniques which are a part of artificial intelligence have made it possible. Artificial intelligence is automating things we never thought possible and it’s threatening to have a significant impact on jobs and the economy. “A convincing moral objection to AGI is: how do we guarantee that an artificial intelligence onpar with a human has the same rights as a human? Given that this intelligent system is fundamentally different from a human, how do we define fundamental AI rights? Additionally, if we consider an artificial intelligence as an artificial lifeform, do we have the right to take its life. “I have found that the reason a lot of people are interested in artificial intelligence is the same reason a lot of people are interested in artificial limbs: they are missing one.” If you want to have an artificial intelligence, it’s not just being able to process the data, but it’s also being able to understand humans. “But artificial intelligence can be used to engage with a person in a much simpler way. Is artificial intelligence good or dangerous? It depends on what exactly one means by”artificial intelligence”. In an era where artificial intelligence is being implicated in our major decisions, a small group of organizations are trying to convince the world about the positive impact of artificial intelligence. Even as Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates and Elon Musk and other science and technology pundits warn of the possible overthrow of humanity by advanced artificial intelligence – a prospect that experts say is nowhere on the horizon – scientists are increasingly looking ahead to the ways in which AI might actually aid people?s lives. Artificial Intelligence has now evolved far beyond Classic AI into a new era of machine intelligence. Artificial intelligence can be defined as the use of computers to simulate human intelligence, specifically including learning – the acquisition and classification of information, and reasoning – finding insights into the data. Because there’s no reason to think artificial intelligence wouldn’t surpass human intelligence, and likely very quickly. That?s one of the things that people who worry about the future of artificial intelligence have focused on: that if you have an artificial intelligence with a programmed drive, that drive could have very unpredictable consequences. A Stanford-led initiative to study the future of artificial intelligence in the next century released a report detailing the effect artificial intelligence could have on urban life by 2030.

Is artificial intelligence making the data analyst redundant?

One such role that is being challenged to prove its worth, is the analyst, in no small part due to Big Data, analytics, and the most exciting, cutting edge development at the moment, artificial intelligence. Arguing in the affirmative is the fact that machines can process data at speeds that far surpass human capability, and do so 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Even the most dedicated analyst, working from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday is still vastly outpaced by the 168 hours a single machine can devote to that task in the same period, without requiring weekly and yearly breaks in its productivity. Machines can sift through data at a considerably lower price than it costs to employ an analyst on an ongoing basis, earning the median average of R185 000 per annum. At the same time, the availability of data, and the need for it to be analysed, is only expanding. At present, 2.5-quintillion bytes of data are being created every day, while 90% of the data in the world today has been created in the last two years alone, according to IBM. Add to this the rise of machine learning, or cognitive systems, whereby computers become more efficient and smarter the more data they are given, and clearly, analysts, using traditional tools, are not on a level playing field. At present, 2.5-quintillion bytes of data are being created every day, while 90% of the data in the world today has been created in the last two years alone. According to International Data Corporation, worldwide revenues from the use of these technologies will increase from nearly US$8-billion in 2016 to more than US$47-billion in 2020, while the market for them will grow by a substantial 55.1% between 2016-2020. The path ahead. More specifically, there will likely be a convergence across the analyst and campaign manager roles. For the latter, rather than spending 50% of their time extracting lists of data from different content sources, and weeding out duplicates, up to 60% of their workload will instead focus on data science and how to leverage data in more innovative ways. Sifting through data will remain a requirement moving forward, but it only makes sense to use tools that are designed to facilitate the process. For all those dealing with data though, whether it is analyst, campaign manager or data scientist, the prospects are considerably more encouraging, with data fluency becoming a sought-after skill. It is widely recognised that there is a global shortage of data scientists, and barring that, individuals with analytical skills, that makes the field a lucrative and promising one. Ultimately, to the question of whether there is a place for analysts in this brave new digitally transformed world, it pivots on how quickly they become comfortable with turning data into profit, and fully exploiting technological tools on offer, to their advantage.
